My 10 best life achievements so far…

Yesterday and Monday were two crazy, sort of spontaneous days for me. My husband and I adopted another rescue dog. We had been looking for an English bulldog to adopt, but it wasn’t working out at all. We decided to look into other dog breeds. My dog definitely needed a friend and I think we made the right decision. This had me reflecting on what other things in my life I have done that have made me feel good inside. I wrote down my 10 best life achievements so far and this is what I have come up with….

  1. Giving birth to my son and being his mother is by far my greatest, best, you name it….achievement. That kid lights up my life and as much as I want to throw him through a window sometimes, I would never because he’s being a toddler….his job is to aggravate me. He is the first and last thing I think about everyday.
  2. Being pregnant to my baby girl. I cannot wait to meet her. I love her so much already. I can not wait to share my heart with both her and Fin.
  3. Marrying my husband. He really is a gem. Yes he does a lot that gets on my nerves, like leaving smelly socks around the house and not throwing things away, but I overlook it most of the time because he does so much for our family. He puts up with me and I can be a handful.
  4. Adopting Ulysses. We adopted him when he was 8 weeks old. He has been there for me more times than I can count. I went through a very difficult period of my life a few years ago and he was always by my side. His cuddles made everything better.
  5. Being able to adopt another dog. We adopted Takoda yesterday. She was found as a stray in Texas, neglected. She was pregnant too. At the shelter she lost every single one of her puppies when she gave birth. This breaks my heart. She was taken in by a rescue and now she is ours. To say having two dogs isn’t difficult is an understatement but she will adapt and things will get easier. But I know we did the right thing. She belongs with us.
  6. Going to college and grad school. Not many people have the opportunity to do this and I did. I’m very proud of myself. I did really well in college and did even better in grad school.
  7. Being a teacher. I love teaching special ed. I often get upset that I’m just part time right now because financially it stinks, but I do get to spend more time with Fin and that is amazing.
  8. Having a house that I love to live in. My house is still a work in progress. I still have things to hang and rooms to finish but I plan on being in this house a very, very long time so I’ll do it as I go. I hope that in a 5-7 years I can renovate my kitchen to be my absolute dream kitchen.
  9. Having the opportunities to go on a really good amount of vacations during my life. I have been able to travel even outside the country. Often people take traveling for granted, but there are people out there who have never left their state.
  10. I cannot think of one last big achievement but over the course of my life I have had many little achievements that I’ve been proud of. I also believe that I make my parents proud (at least I believe I do). This is an achievement for me. Most of us want to make our parents proud because we are a reflection of them.
